Figure Skating
History:
The Dutch started skating in the 1300’s. They used canal’s to travel faster, then it spread and they started skating for fun.

Boot

Boot tongue - The boot tongue are made with wide tongue , with rubber or sponge padding for flexibility.

Blade - The blade has modern blade has a very slight curve, equal to the radius of 180-220 cm.

Heel - The heel has skating boots originally were street boots, and heels have always been part of the look.

Hollow/Groove - The groove is down the middle of the boot of a figure skate blade is called the hollow. Finely ground edges on either side of the hollow varies depending on the skaters even, weight and style.

Toe picks - Toe picks teeth cut into the toe of the blade are used for pushing off in jump and as the pivot.
